We are more than just a scouting group – we are a community of adventurers, learners, and friends. Nestled in the beautiful coastal village of Crosshaven, we’ve been inspiring young people since 1975. Whether on land or at sea, we’re all about fun, friendship, and developing skills that last a lifetime.

Our History

Our story began in 1975, when the 1st Cork Crosshaven Sea Scouts first launched as a group focused on adventure and exploration. After a brief hiatus, we re-established in 2015 with a fresh mission and renewed energy. Since then, we’ve grown into a thriving community of young people and dedicated volunteers, united by a love for the outdoors and the water.

From hiking in the countryside to kayaking in Cork Harbour, our activities have brought generations of young people together to learn, grow, and create unforgettable memories. What Makes Us Unique

At 1st Cork Crosshaven, we’re proud to offer something truly special – the best of both worlds as Scouts and Sea Scouts!

Thanks to our location by Cork Harbour, we take full advantage of the water, offering activities like kayaking, sailing, and paddleboarding alongside traditional scouting adventures like camping, hiking, and pioneering.

There are only a few Sea Scout groups in Ireland, and we’re proud to be one of them.

Meet Our Community

1st Cork Crosshaven Sea Scouts is for everyone, no matter your age or experience. We offer four sections, each tailored to suit the needs and abilities of different age groups:

Beavers (6-8)

Start your adventure with fun and games, making new friends along the way.

Cubs (9-11)

Cubs

Take on new challenges and build confidence through exciting activities.

Scouts (12-14)

Scouts

Dive into bigger adventures, from hiking and camping to kayaking and sailing.

Venturers (15-17)

Venturers

Lead the way, develop leadership skills, and push yourself to new heights.

Our group is run by passionate volunteer leaders and supported by the wider community, including parents and local organisations.

We aim to inspire a love for adventure and the outdoors, while creating a safe and welcoming environment where young people can thrive. Our vision is to continue growing our community, offering more opportunities for fun and learning, and being a positive influence in the lives of our members.
